Open Gate – La Strada Macedonia is a non-government, non-profitable organization registered in September 2000, it works on the prevention and psychological and social support rendered to potential victims of trafficking in human beings. In the organization works 18 women from different professions, as social workers, psychologists, lawyers, journalists, economists, etc.

Goals of the organization:

NGO “Open Gate”, “La Strada- Macedonia ” is a woman's lobby and action against violence and trafficking in women. Registered with its governing idea is to steer its endeavours against women trafficking. The Open Gate established as its sole purpose of existence fighting for women's rights, as well as preventing, protecting and assisting victims of trafficking in human beings especially women and children.

Activities:

The activities of the Open Gate are directed into three main fields: Lobbying and Press Campaign; Prevention and Education and Social Support to the victims of trafficking in human beings especially women and children.

• Putting emphasis on the trafficking human problem; gearing the authorities and the public towards a better understanding of this problem from the aspect of human rights violation; strengthening of the political commitment to combat trafficking in human beings.
• Preparation and publication of the preventive and informative materials by means of which young girls and other risk groups will be informed about the dangers and threats lurking from the criminal network involved in trafficking, as well as about the ways by means of which they can protect themselves.
• Organization of an SOS phone line for prevention and information as well as for victims of trafficking, which represents one of the ways of assistance to the victims of trafficking in human beings.
• Organization of trainings to the local non-government organizations, government institutions (the police, social institutions, elementary and high schools, universities, employent agencies).
• Collection and exchange of information pertaining to trafficking in human beings.
• Exchange of information and experiences pertaining to the La Strada network and other international organizations.
• Creation of a network of local non-government organizations and international organizations that work on combating trafficking in human beings in Macedonia.
