Signing a code of cooperation

Open Gate – La Strada in collaboration with Accor Group, a world-leading hotel group and the National Commission for the Fight against Human Trafficking (Antitrafficking Macedonia) signed a code of cooperation on the eve of European Anti-Trafficking Day.

The Code is the first of its kind in the hotel industry in our country and is aimed at protecting children from sexual abuse in the travel and tourism industry.

“Open Gate, an association that carries the voices of victims and provides their assistance and support, is pleased to join this initiative. Identification is a key element of child protection, and therefore cooperation not only with institutions but also with the private sector, and all other key actors play an important role in providing appropriate services, informing and protecting children from trafficking and sexual exploitation. ” Jasmina D. Rajkovska.

National Coordinator MA Magdalena Nestorovska emphasized that: “One of the strategic orientations / commitments of the National Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings and Illegal Migration is to build a continuous partnership with the private sector, because only through the creation of a wide range of stakeholders (state actors,  international and non-governmental organizations, civil society and the private sector) an effective, comprehensive and coordinated system to combat trafficking in human beings will be built. “

We support Accor Group’s initiative to recognize the need to train staff in the hotel industry for human trafficking, and we believe that this type of training is needed and important in the fight against human trafficking.
