16 Days of Activism to End Gender-Based Violence

Today we talked with a group of girls about the negative consequences of child marriages on their physical and mental health and overall future.

Child marriages represent a considerable obstacle to the further development of children, because they directly or indirectly deprive them of the right to education, socialization, to gain economic independence, and also to proper health development.

One has to note that the roots of underage marriages are gender discrimination, the structured gender inequality in societies, and the feminization of poverty.

Open Gate advocates on behalf of the young population in order for their voice to be heard, and mobilizes the national actors in developing programs for the prevention and protection of forced/child marriage and human trafficking in North Macedonia.
